Japanese and Korean bilingual professionals earn double the salary

Recruiter magazine has cited a survey from a Japanese recruitment firm showing the salaries of experienced professionals in both Japan and South Korea who are proficient in English to be much higher than the salaries of non bilingual professionals. Specifically and in both countries, salary levels of such personnel in their twenties were 1.5 times, those in their thirties were 1.7 times and those 40 or over were more than twice the average.

English-2 Moreover and while discrepancies between the salaries earned by men verses women continues to persist in Japan and South Korea, women proficient in English in both countries earn annual salaries far higher than national averages.

In other words, the time, effort and cost for Japanese and Korean professionals to learn English does pay off in the form of much higher salaries.
