Mall General Manager for a Shopping Mall Opening in China

Brain Gain Asia LLC Blog : June 19, 2014 5:12 pm : Asia Jobs, China Jobs, Greater China Jobs, Hong Kong Jobs

I have a client seeking a shopping mall general manager as well as a deputy general manager for their flagship mixed use development in China. The general manager role will include full P&L responsibility for the mall complex covering leasing and property management plus reporting to the Board of Directors.

And while the client is open minded about this role (e.g. age etc), it is imperative that candidates are able to communicate proficiently in and conduct day to day business in verbal Mandarin (Note: Being able to read Mandarin or contracts written in it is not so important BUT being able to manage 100+ employees and do day-to-day business in the language will be critical). In addition, candidates with previous mall project launch experience or experience working in a senior expat role at another mall in China will be given top priority for consideration.

China Based SE Asia Commodities/Metals/Steel Analyst

Brain Gain Asia LLC Blog : May 3, 2014 9:18 am : Asia Jobs, China Jobs, Greater China Jobs

The China office of a global metals/commodities consulting firm is seeking an Analyst to cover the SE Asian metals/steel market, initially from China and then from SE Asia (e.g. Singapore, Kuala Lumpur etc).

The ideal candidate would be someone already based in SE Asia with at least 3 to 5 years of exposure or knowledge about the SE Asia commodities, metals and/or steel market from working as an analyst, market researcher, consultant etc. who is willing to relocate to China for at least two years (before returning to SE Asia).

Chinese language skills would be a benefit but not a necessity because this role is focused on the SE Asia market. An MBA or Masters degree in engineering, finance or a similar discipline might also be useful.
